The Challenge

Flutter needed to carry out a security remediation exercise on their legacy Enterprise IT estate following a period of rapid growth and several major acquisitions. This would involve analysing the server estate and then decommissioning or remediating non-compliant servers.

Solution

Fruition Consulting was engaged to deliver a Windows and Linux server currency project. The deployed squads provided Microsoft and Linux-based infrastructure and security engineering services. They began by documenting the Windows and Linux estate and identifying service owners, criticality, and business impact.

They then wrote an upgrade strategy, project managed and implemented the upgrade or migration for all Windows and Linux services; 250+ servers.

Result

The Fruition Consulting squads;

  • Upgraded Active Directory and implemented new features
  • Decommissioned 150+ Windows, Linux servers or appliances
  • Standardised Windows and Linux Operating Systems Templates, Build and Decommission Processes
  • Standardised and arranged to patch maintenance windows and communicated to the business for Windows and Linux services.
  • Upgraded and reconfigured Ivanti Security Centre 2022.1 for automated patching, inventory, and asset management
  • Assisted on spacewalk upgrade and implementation to the Centos 6, 7 and 8 estate
  • Wrote a rudimentary patching solution for Linux Patching Automation
